As far as kitchen appliances go, we have seen very little action with the hand blender. Limited innovations mean a lot of scope for improvement; maybe this is why I fancy this Mini Hand Blender concept. It’s an all-in-one deal that can be operated with one hand. The rechargeable unit can be turned on or off with the flick of the wrist. The Blender case, Blender, and mixing bowl are designed as a single unit so that the blades are kept hygienically stored and safe.

Mini Hand Blender is a 2013 iF Design award – concept design entry.

The Moop is a mopping system that not only helps clean up the room but also uses technology to its advantage. The electronic bucket has the capability of recycling the murky water, sanitizing it again for reuse. Although the designers have not explained the workings of this mop, but imagining a system where simple methods for recycling and reusing the water sounds like a good ‘green’ idea.

Moop is a 2013 iF Design award – concept design entry.

Lumigrids is an LED projector for bicycles that hopes to improve safety during night riding. It projects square grids onto the ground and by observing changes in the grids, the rider can easily comprehend the landforms ahead. Lumigrids can be fixed onto the bicycle’s handlebars and the power is supplied by either an internal battery or by the rotation of the bicycle’s wheels.

As the designers explain, on a flat road surface, the grid will consist of standard squares. On a rough road surface, the grids will deform accordingly. By observing the motion and deformation of the grids, the rider can intuitively understand the landforms ahead. In addition, the luminous grids can make it easier for nearby pedestrians and vehicles to notice the bicycle, reducing the likelihood of collision.

This modern Winchester, England – house renovation and glass  extension by AR Design Studio creates a light, airy and open living environment bursting with traditional values, contemporary style and innovative design. The clients (a couple) wanted to keep the traditional facade but they also wanted to add a touch of contemporary. The owner’s love of glass fueled their brief to construct a beautifully simple sculptural glass staircase and a contemporary glass extension, situated at the rear of the property in the space created by the ‘C’ shape of the building, which would open itself up to the garden. Hidden from view behind the buildings traditional facade, the finished extension is an elegant piece of modern contemporary glass architecture. It completely reinvents the feel and...

Offering a fusion between the Japanese and the Brazilian cuisine, the Ikibana restaurant is located in Barcelona, Spain and it was designed by the architectural practice El Equipo Creativo.

The Ikibana restaurant offers a fusion of Japanese and Brazilian gastronomies, two cultures that seem so antagonistic: quiet and minimalist the first, exuberant and bustling the second. The interior was created as an artificial landscape which is reminiscent of the lush landscape of Brazil and it is decorated with Japanese paintings and dramatic arts representative of their surroundings. Ikebana flower arrangements are also present all over to emphasize the focus on the natural.

The smaller the car, the harder it is to get in and out of… right? Wrong! Product Tank’s latest design delivers the ease of loading up a large SUV in a super-compact city car that even the big boys will appreciate. To help facilitate spaciousness, the interior focuses on the thinness of each element. Everything from the seats to the steering wheel is just a fraction of the sizes you find in other cars! Hit the vid to see all the features!

Designed for the modern bookworm, the Booklet merges the functionalities of both an e-reader and smartphone into a single device that essentially makes it possible to take calls in between lines! Whether you’re diving into emails, documents, or your favorite book, reading is made easier on the larger screen with bold text that won’t tire your eyes. What it lacks in apps it makes up for in simplicity, ease-of-use, and a friendly, flexible aesthetic.
